So, as I move agresticpublishing forward and have possibly signed another Indie author to the cause (Tania and Eric will be the subject of later blogs), peripheral ideas and projects have come to the fore.Gooseberry sproutling
I was scouring the internet to produce something special for the Huahuqui series. Many of my readers comment on how much they love the character 'V' and want one of their own. I have even set up a merchandise section on www.huahuqui.com where you can order an exact model of V as envisioned by the talented folk at RespectStudios. These models are produced by Sculpteo.com via various 3D printing and lasering techniques. I'm awaiting my very own with baited breath.
These perfect replicas, however cool, tend to cater to a certain audience. Often men. Considering my female readers have become attached to V on a much more emotional level, I needed something more... Fluffy.
Enter Megan Baehr.
Megan holds a BFA in Cartooning & Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, and lives in Southern Vermont with her fiancé, a cat, a snake, and a tree frog. From this description alone you could be forgiven for liking her. However, for me, her interests, listed as storytelling, comic books, pre-history, cephalopods, mythology, and cryptozoology, sealed the deal.
Megan's business is primarily focused on creating specialised dolls. Each one hand crafted and unique. Her 'sproutlings' are nothing short of magical. I know I will be ordering one for someone who would just die to own it. Indeed, I think 'Gooseberry' is my favourite. You can see her work at www.nonesuchgarden.com
It was the perfect match.
Having had a couple of emails with Megan suggesting a business idea, she decided to read Huahuqui to make her decision.
To my relief and delight, she agreed to work with me! And now, having hammered out the details I can say that Megan will be producing a limited run of V dolls. All cute and cuddly. These will have certificates and everything. And will be unique in the world.
So, in the next two months we will be devising a competition for a few lucky people to win one of these limited editon dolls!
Stay tuned! But in the meantime, while you wait, go look at Megan's site and see if there isn't a gift for that someone special just waiting to be discovered...
